On several occasions, clients have contacted us regarding disputes with official car brand representatives in Bulgaria — more specifically, refusals to perform warranty repairs. In such cases, our approach has been conservative, beginning with the sending of a formal demand letter to the authorized dealer responsible for warranty service. The reason for this is that these disputes typically involve representatives of major international automobile manufacturers, who are obliged to uphold their responsibilities toward clients who have paid substantial amounts for their vehicles.

To illustrate, we will present our most recent case in which we successfully assisted a client who had purchased a vehicle from one of the most renowned SUV brands. The issue involved scratches on the paint and lacquer coating, for which the manufacturer had provided a seven-year warranty. The official Bulgarian representative refused to perform the warranty repair, citing a delay in the vehicle’s regular maintenance (oil and filter changes).

On behalf of the client, we sent an official demand letter to the representative in Bulgaria regarding the issue. Unfortunately, we received another refusal, and the client was ready to pursue legal action. However, as mentioned above, our strategy was conservative, as we aim to avoid involving clients in court proceedings whenever there is a viable alternative solution. It is well known that litigation entails costs, time, and the risk of an unfavorable outcome.

For this reason, we proceeded by sending a formal letter directly to the manufacturer’s headquarters. In it, we again outlined the problem and attached the Bulgarian representative’s written refusal. Shortly thereafter, the representative contacted the client, the vehicle was taken to the authorized service center, and the paintwork was repaired under warranty — at no cost to the owner.

In conclusion, with minimal expense, we managed to resolve the matter out of court. This brought satisfaction both to the client and to us as their legal representatives. We saved the client time and costs, reaffirming the old maxim that every settlement is better than even the best court judgment.
